Multicore rendering crashes TF2

I have Intel i5, and when i enable multicore rendering TF2 randomly crashes. This doesn't happen when that optin is disabled.
Just to say, in options, for multicore rendering recommended value is disabled. So, that confuses me, since my i5 has 2 physical and 4 logical cores.
And when it's enabled my fps is much higher. So, is there any way to enable it without crashing the game?
I'm asking here because i believe someone here knows the answer.

Well, it's not big problem, i have ok fps without multicore, I was just curious.

Same problem here... I have a Quad core Q9550, and yes rendering multicore really raise fps (ull notice it expecyally on Hard SPAM maps/situations). I usually have to start TF2 once, then on loading server page it crashes... so  i have to reboot Steam and enter the game again, and usually (but not always) it works.
To Be Honest, do not count on Valve Patch... i ve got this problems from, well, like 5 months

I was searching other forums, and this is some random thing, no one knows why the game crashes, so, no solution for this. At least I couldn't find it.

I got the very same Cpu as Cronico multicore is always enabled and it works just fine, every now and then it crashes, but it always had, even before multicore support, so yes it seems a casual thing.

i think it's because multirenderng isn't for the CPU but GPU. i Think multirendering will work only with 2 or more graphic cards (or maybe a gtx590 or HD6990). i don't think is a processor thing as the processor multithreading's got another name ;)

Edit:
also if you've got more than 1 GPU the driver's will apply a new king of process distribuition (spero di averlo scritto giusto) so enabling that options isn't really usefull...

nah ennvi, you're wrong, multicore rendering is about cpu and not gpu as you can see from this thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1583988
btw, many have the same issue, ramo, can you try that option on css?

I've Intel Core-i7 920 (8 core = 4 Physical + 4 Logical) and this option enabled, but not crashes.
What's your operating system? 32 bit or 64?
RAM?
